As far as I can make out, mostly various types of German. Most folks on my dad's side, as far as I can make out from the limited research I've done, were Alsatian German Catholics, while my mom's side is a good deal more ambiguous--the only origin I know for my mom's family conclusively is German, but I'm fairly certain that there was some Scotch-Irish in there considering that side of the family's Tennessee ancestry. Anyway, they were all fairly early immigrants and were thoroughly assimilated by the time of the ARW--my Great-Grandfather's side was a bunch of inbred VA planting aristocracy which fell on hard times (thank God) after the civil war and eventually became, at least on my side, poor folks.
