I doubt it's always voted for the Democrats.  Teddy Roosevelt won Wayne County with 69.38% of the vote in 1904 - there's no way in hell that was done without winning Detroit.

o. ok.  well did the win it alot or no?

I think it's evident just looking at results from Wayne County, and considering that Detroit is more Democratic than Wayne County at large, that the Democrats have indeed won Detroit a whole lot.
