I am more than a little disturbed that the options, "He's only saying what the prophet Joel (3:2) said – that God will judge those who divide his land", "He may be right but there's no way to know", and, "I agree with Robertson – Sharon arrogantly challenged God and lost" have, in total, 57.83% of the responses so far.

I'm reminded why I don't ever go to WND.

Subtract "He may be right but there's no way to know," and what's the total?

Around 49%.

Because that seems like a pretty reasonable position. How much can you really know about God?

Well, Sharon was very overweight and was generally already in poor health.  It seems to me that it's extremely easy to explain this without saying that "God punished him".  That answer is the least extreme of those giving Robertson's position consideration, to be sure.

Still, nearly half of the voters agreed with Robertson, even without that option.

I can't imagine what America would be like if he had won the presidency.

For him to be able to win the presidency, America would have had to already be totally screwed up and unrecognizable from how it is today.

Remember, he said he was running because God told him to, and God told him he would win.

Religious nuts should really refrain from making comments that are falsifiable.  God told him to?  Okay, that's fine; it's impossible to show that he didn't.  God told him he would win?  Well, if we accept the fact that God is omnipotent, omnibenevolant, and omniscient, and therefore would neither lie nor get a statement wrong, the only logical deduction is that he lied.

The people actually APPLAUDED that. Disgusting.

Yeah, I saw stuff on Benny Hinn before.  He was another one I was thinking of when I made the comment I did.
