I think the failure of some of these initiatives means that California voters want a more nuanced approach to some of these issues.
I think you're seriously overestimating the likelihood of the average voter of looking up what these measures entail before they vote.
And failing to consider the sources of information that average voters are provided with — did Prop 22 win because California voters want a more nuanced approach to independent contracting, or did it win because rideshare companies spent more than $200 million to make sure every voter saw something about how good it was everywhere they looked?
