Repeal already failed once and the quote of opposition was from a Republican. Republicans simply aren't going to pass a bill introduced by Democrats, that's how partisanship works.

I doubt the 2015 legislature will be much more progressive than it was a few years ago, and even good legislation sponsored by Democrats typically doesn't make it to a vote, much less to the governor's desk. Notably, Baxley (who's quoted as opposing the reform) sits on both the Criminal Justice & Rules (sub)Committees, and the Vice Chair of the Criminal Justice Subcommittee is the Rev. Charles Van Zant, who opposes Common Core because it "promotes homosexuality". Can't see Republicans wanting to bring this to a vote when their caucus will be significantly divided both in committee and on the floor.
