The once and future Governor. But really, who does this surprise? The guy's been an advocate for teachers, a leader for civil rights (as governor and as AG), has a fairly pro-abortion rights voting record in the legislature, and works for a leading trial lawyer and Democratic fundraiser, and that's before the Obama stuff.

It will certainly be interesting to see if FL Dems accept Crist as their messiah.

We quite literally have no other options.

I think citrus canker would beat Scott in polling.

Or some nobody like, say, Nan Rich.

Well at least he came out of one closet.......one more to go.
What is the basis for all these rumours about being gay?

Mr. Jim Greer, former chairman of the Republican Party of Florida and current inmate on multiple felony charges (I believe awaiting trial), has said that Crist is gay, has had affairs with two men, paid those men to leave the state, attempted to kiss Greer in a hotel in Beverly Hills, got drunk, and tried to run people over with a golf cart.

I expect a similar process to occur with Crist -- he could well attempt to position himself as a 'leftist' candidate in primaries.

Not in a primary. Since he'd be running against someone like Alex Sink or Nan Rich, they'd have an immediate boost among the South Florida liberal group. Far better for Crist to focus on the groups he wins with - African-Americans, teachers, Tampa Bay, and conservative Dems. He needs to stay relatively conservative to hold onto the Blue Dogs, while still reaching out to African-Americans, where he's been traditionally strong, and teachers, who love him.
