Teaching propaganda to children.
OK. So it's just different propaganda than what mainstream public schools are teaching?
I love it when right-wingers think teaching historical facts that they don't like="propaganda."
You're telling me that you had an unbiased history lesson on stuff like the settlers and the Indians or the Boston Masacre?
Such history has a propagandized bent towards the US, yes (as evidenced by your examples), but it isn't like making it even more bent towards the US makes it "fair and balanced".
I wouldn't say this is bending it toward the US. I guess I'm a bit unclear what the school is doing. I wouldn't call an emphasis on free market stuff to be "patriotic".
The day beings with students singing 'Proud to be an American' or 'God Bless the USA' or some such thing, and as the superintendent said, "I think there's been so much focus on this push back against capitalism, against Americanism, that people start thinking that everybody feels that way but they don't. I have to reject the whole idea that being American is somewhat controversial." Their classrooms are named after the Founding Fathers, they sing all 4 stanzas of the Star-Spangled Banner, they take citizenship tests, they're called the Patriots, and their open house has themes like "We Love America". It's based on the Core Knowledge program. They wear red, white, and blue uniforms. If their curriculum isn't "USA is the nation of Jesus and is exceptional and better than everyone else", then I've never been to any school.
