If your family has lived in the same country for hundreds of years and many generations you are not an immigrant.

To be fair, with a name like "Patrick Murphy", his family might be turn-of-the-century Irish immigrants. He personally isn't an immigrant of course, but its not impossible that his family isn't that old and established in America.
