No, the Nobel Prize committee should have waited until after his presidency. Giving him one when he had barely started his presidency is basically giving him a gold medal because he wasn't George W Bush.

In his defense, that is worthy of a good medal

True, but they didn't take the time to properly evaluate his presidency, and since he got the medal, Obama hasn't exactly been a peacenik.
