Prescott was hardly an important Senator, though, and nobody else ran for elective office. They were important donors to Republicans causes, but that does not make a political royal family.
Sure, but they were already an established political family and a business dynasty, Prescott's great grand father Obadiah was a prominent abolitionist and vice president of the American Anti-Slavery Society and his grandson (Prescott's dad) Samuel earned serious money.
My point was, that it was already and old and well established elite family with political cloud long before George I and II.
