He made a lousy candidate, though. Too logical and intellectual to connect with the average person.
"Too intellectual" is the same sour grapes used to explain nearly every Democratic Presidential loss since Stevenson, who was not too bright.

I never thought of Dukakis as being an intellectual... maybe in comparison to Bush he was, but not in objective terms.
Do I understand you as saying that Stevenson was "not too bright"? I think you're mistaken there.
