Random aside:
Can someone tell me why the insistence on the use "grilled" hamburgers? Are people boiling burgers these days or are we to salute Bushie that he isn't throwing them in to a deep fryer?

If it were me I'd just fry them in a pan, its easier.

Yeah, but are you really frying them on the pan? One would think that the burger has enough fat content where you would just need a little something so it doesnt stick to the pan and not a bunch of fatty oils.  Also they may be easier but it is terrible tasting, you barbarian Smiley

bushie what did you eat at the potluck?  and why dont you enjoy potlucks?

I usually don't find dishes I like.  This one was a different story.  I was very impressed to say the least.

Here is what I had this afternoon: (Portions approximate)

3 oz of Pot Roast and Potatoes
1/2 c of Taco Salad
1/4 c of Corn
1 generous scoop of a doritos/chicken/rotelle combination.  I don't know what it was called, but it was delish.  Rotelle in case you don't know is a cheese sauce similar to Chile Con Queso.
2 servings of banana pudding cake.
1/2 of a hot roll.

No, it's not.

Jeff, you really should get a job. At the very least part time stocking shelves or something like that. Something not mentally taxing, you will burn some calories, have some money coming in and get out and about a bit.

It have to start building back your life piece by piece my man.  You will end up ill equipped to even hold down that job you assume you will get after your completion of cad.

This may be too personal but why do you think your parents still allow you to seemingly take advantage of them? Tourettes?

You watch ridiculous amounts of football and tv. You waste countless hours here and you can't pick up a shift doing something?  This isn't summer camp. You have to start living in the real, adult world where we don't always feel like doing things but forge ahead and do them anyway. Next, You really have to temper your expectations from life.  Again, this isnt the big rock candy mountain.

You have to learn consistency and discipline or you will fail again. These skills don't appear overnight because you wish them.  If you fail the pattern holds that you will be on to your next fantasy. However, hate to be a bummer eventually your Grandma, Mom and Dad will pass and you will have to support yourself. You should focus on that first before some wish fulfillment Kenya lark. Additionally  the fact that you don't have diabetes isnt an attaboy moment. You are in your early 30's that is a default.

Patrick, I am doing things correctly right now.  You must have glossed over this:  I am getting a good education, will get a good job, and will take over my bills next summer.  I'm doing what works best for me and my needs.  I am living in the real world and in no way have I failed.

Oh boy, just glancing at the post below it looks like you are spinning some doozies again. Jeff, I don't think anyone can underestimate your ability to dream big and wish things. However, throughout this narrative you are sorely lacking in the execution dept.  There is a familiar pattern of closing up shop and retreating back the moment something doesn't go your way. Failure has a ultimate finality to me so I won't go there, but you have to admit that you have put yourself and others in a bad spot right now.

You don't wave a magic wand, wish it and make it come true. All of these things take work to repair. Attending classes for a few hours a week, when you decide to go, is not preparing you for the rigors of a 9-5. These are rigors, which you have shown yourself incapable of handling thus far.  You simply need to develop your fortitude.

Then again, if you are quite pleased taking advantage of people for the rest of your life, shame on you. And shame on those who facilitate such behavior. Check your head if need be and get out there and start doing some work.

Listen Jeff, You are right about one thing, what I say is meaningless regarding your life. Ultimately, you will be the one who dictates what success and failure mean to you.  This is probably the biggest question many of us face in our lives.

Further, I have no way of knowing whether this schooling will be good for you. As my horse racing picks will attest, I can't predict the future. Yet, I will throw some observations and sure even advice based on your narrative here.

Past is prologue. Based on this previous evidence, I think you are not preparing yourself properly. I'm sure the North Central Oklahoma Tech football game is quite a barn burner, but it is not pointing you toward the goals you espouse here. By all accounts, you have gotten quite a bit of help from your loved ones to pick you up from your missteps. No shame in getting a hand when you are down. But don't just wallow on the ground. Get up, you owe it to yourself and those who help you.

Lastly, you should drop the passive aggressive bull$hit.  You can try to frame this as your forum haters being your motivators but you should need no outside fuel to push you forward. To circle back, you really should start to build up your discipline. If the bare minimum and subsistence is okay, you won't achieve your goals.

I just had a good texting conversation with Allison on the way back from Shawnee.  (Dad was driving).  We have set our first date for next Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Stillwater.  We'll go to Applebee's for lunch and then go to the park and talk and walk all afternoon.  I am supposed to meet her at Noon and then I'll probably head home around 18:00 or so, so I can get back before it gets too dark.  I'll leave here at 10:30 that morning and should be home by 19:30.  I will off Facebook and off the forum during that time, so you will have to wait until late that evening before I tell you how it went.  I definitely won't tell you much, as I want to keep what happened between us.  Don't get any ideas, boys!

It is rare that such lunacy is so expected and predictable.

Will Bushie get married... ?  Nice to see Bushie approach the big decisions in life with the rigor of a gaggle of 3rd grade girls. This is foolish insanity but hey they say there is a cover for every pot.

The behavior on both sides make absolutely no sense to me, but who am I to judge? Best of luck, I hope you find some happiness.

1) She doesn't even think about Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving.

How will you cope with this fundamental incompatibility between the two of you?

It will be tough, but all the other things we have similar tastes on will make up for it.  We will either compromise, or the smarter option is to make the boss happy.

Who's the boss?

Yo.

anyway dude as much as people are picking and prodding you as usual, it's hard not to see Allison as a positive development for you.  sure, you're not making ideal or even roughly-rational choices with your time or life, but you weren't likely to with or without a woman, and this woman seems to not mind and even endorse such extrarationality, so, God bless.  a partner in crime is never a bad thing if the crime is presupposed.

Yeah, I can't say I understand this whole thing. However, there are plenty of people who have been together many years and decades that eventually fail together. That said, It does undercut the whole anti gay marriage movement when straights are allowed to engage in such whim toward matrimony and you have gay couples who have been in a relationship for most of their lives who are denied such an opportunity by law.

Allison brought up the wedding date after the first date? Sounds like a match made in heaven. Perhaps this is the one, boys!

It makes sense.  The fiancee fiasco was the main hook of the original season.  A wedding episode would be the ultimate series payoff.

Booo, Fanservice to the Duke viewers of the board.
