I'm not 100% about Deleware actually. Dover has more single men than women, but the Philadelphia metro area has more single women, and since Wilmington is in the Philly metro, it could mean DE has more single women.

National Geographic explains the difference as having to do with illegals being mostly male and college grads being mostly female. (to overly paraphrase)
