NE3: Fair Gas Tax Act

I do recognize that this is a controversial tax, but I feel like it's necessary to ensure that our highways/roads/etc., are paid for into the future, and that we don't need to look into parts of the budget when these roads need repair. This measure would also ensure gas tax revenues would stay where they are intended to be, and will hopefully prevent a future, massive raise.

(Also, it'd be nice to debate something a bit more controversial than the usual.)

How much would the tax rate increase by - and how much additional money would we receive from this increase?

Tax rate increases would be dependent on increases in inflation. Considering that inflation has been low recently, I wouldn't imagine it to be too much. Cynic, I do think that a small tax cut for the middle class would be good to counteract any negative effects they might feel from this.
