When I announced my run for governor, I honestly didn't think I had much of a chance to win. I was going up against two very established names in Atlasia and one of the most popular Senators in Atlasia. To my shock, it actually worked out. I'd like to thank every voter who gave me a preference, and I'd like to thank my opponents for their grace in defeat, even if there previously some threats at a legal challenge.

Regardless, at this point, Atlasia is in serious need od radical change. As PGH said in his thread, consolidation and reducing offices is a necessity.  Competitive elections for every position are a necessity. All of us working together is a jecessity. I believe that this election in the Northeast shows there is still hope for the future and that together, we can save her.

Congratulations, Governor!

Since your Assembly seat is now vacant, you can name a replacement for the next 7 days.  IIRC, it has to be someone from the same party as you, at least in theory.  A special election to fill the seat will be held this upcoming weekend.  Candidates have until the election starts to declare.

You obviously also have to appoint a new Lt. Governor.

I think the same party law was repealed.

I've sent out a few PMs on the open Assembly spot, but if you have any interest, please send a PM and also run on Friday. Same goes for the LG (except that obviously only applies to people in the Assembly).

I will be appointing Superman to the Assembly to fill my vacant seat. Of course, there will a special election on Friday, and I encourage anyone else who has any interest to run.

I'd also like to announce that I'll be appointing DemPGH as my Lieutenant Governor. I'm also working on a budget to present to Assembly for the term. I hope to get it there by this time next week.

Also, we may need a new prosecutor who is not an officeholder since rpryor is in the Senate. If you're interested, please send me a PM.

I'm glad to see that the term limits legislation is being debsted in the Assembly, and that the SWE trial is finally making some headway after issues with appointing a prosecutor. I've also proposed a consolidation map which can be viewed on the consolidation thread if anyone's interested.

On that note, we do need another Assemblyman after Altsomn's elections to the Senate. Just send me a PM if you're intersted, and also declare you candidacy in the proper thread.

I'd like to announce that I'll be appointing former Governor and Assemblyman Winfield to fill the vacancy in the Assembly. As someone who worked with Winfield in the past, I feel confident in saying that he will be an active and strong voice in the Assembly.

I'd also like to encourage all Northeasterners to sign the petition for a Constitutional Convention. We're close to becoming the second region to meet the requirement for the ConCon, and I'd argue that it's necessary if we want this game to survive. Here's the link:

I do take responsibility to falling activity in the Northeast Assembly, which is why I've introduced four new bills, including one that I hope should attract some attention from outside of the the region. Wink

First, I urge my fellow citizens from the Northeast (and the rest of Atlasia) to vote for the Cris-Pryor amendment. While we've made significant progress on the ConCon through petition, this should hopefully speed the process up. I'd also like to again encourage any active Northeastern citizens to run for the Assembly this weekend. While I know that many Northeasterners have roles federal government, I still think that there are enough who do not in order to fill five Assembly seats...

Finally, I will be travelling on Wednesday and Thursday, and I'll likely not be able be very active, so consider this a LOA for then.

A meer eight votes so far in the assembly election... Undecided

After looking it over, one of our issues is that only 50% of Northeasterners who voted in the federal election voted in the regional election. *sigh*

I'm going to be taking another LOA until 9/3. I should be on intermittently, but I don't expect to be able to have any consistent level of activity.

I'm going to give a myself a day or two to think about this one. (Also because I'm about to take a long flight Tongue )

As mentioned in the NE Aseembly thread, I'm working on the budget, but there are some troubles with revenue estimates, considering the lack of a GM. Hopefully, I'll be able to present some form of a budget within the next few days, though.

I'm going to hold onto this until cinyc responds to Clyde's question.

At this point, I expect a referendum is probably inevitable, considering how the Assembly vote went (3-1), so if the date's valid, I see no point in a veto, considering it will likely get overridden.

If the current date isn't valid, I'd rather that we get the constitutionality of the date sorted out in a redraft rather than get stuck in a slow-moving lawsuit about it and I'd urge the Assembly to bump up the redraft to the top of the queue.

Hopefully, we can resolve asap, and I still expect a vote in mid-October barring new issues coming up.

Veto.

My explanation is mostly in my prior post, so hopefully we can fix the legal issues that are facing this.

Potential legal issues aside, I do believe that it's best that we get this issue solved sooner rather than later. As a strong advocate of a unified Atlasia, I think that when we get to the ConCon, it's better that we do not have a potential secessionist threat to worry about and mess with plans. The campaign is a little shorter than I'd like it to be, but I think this is still long enough for the campaigns to get their messages out.

Hi all,

Just making a really short plea for my fellow Northeasterners to vote for me a delegate to the ConCon. I know that there are a lot of great people running for this, but I hope as a still relatively fresh and active face, you're willing to send me as one of your representatives to this historic event.

Thanks, pikachu

Veto. I like the bill, but after giving a little thought, it probably should have some provision that provides a waiver for kids who have preexisting medical conditions and such.

This probably isn't the best choice, especially since it's about a very specific place, but I really like New York so yeah....

I think that providing childcare will do a lot to increase economic mobility in our region.

Thanks to those Senators who supported me. I'm quite disappointed, but I hope to have an active voice in the convention process regardless.

I philosophically support the Children in Sports Act, so I've offered a version of it that adds some things, changes some things, and offers the possibility of exemptions.

I strongly support the training of the body as well as the mind; I see no reason whatsoever why phys. ed. and phys. ed. requirements should not exist in school.

The list is extensive enough that if someone wanted to run three days a week out on the track (instead of playing soccer or whatever), that would be permitted. What the bill is aiming for is activity.

I do agree with this, and I think your revision is something that I could support.
