Dear God, the details make it even worse than the headline somehow! Here is one that pissed me off in particular:

Quote
Trump has been, for the duration of his presidency, fixated on staging military parades, but only of a certain sort. In a 2018 White House planning meeting for such an event, Trump asked his staff not to include wounded veterans, on grounds that spectators would feel uncomfortable in the presence of amputees. “Nobody wants to see that,” he said.

Can the press please put Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), who lost his legs in Iraq, on the record for what he thinks of this?

I find this more than a little hard to believe. Not because I think Trump's incapable of having these views, but because he's usually somewhat careful to avoid insulting his base.

In order to care about insulting someone, you have to respect them.

Trump doesn't respect his voters. He sees them as useful idiots to be entertained and distracted by shiny objects.

Shades of Veep.

Quote
AMY: Sre Lin, she's a Cambodian rights activist—

SELINA: Perfect!

AMY: —she was born with no legs.

SELINA: What? Well that's not gonna work, is it?

AMY: I know.

SELINA: How can I even do a walk-and-talk? I can't be with somebody who's physically disfigured.

AMY: No you can't.

SELINA: It makes me feel sick. Okay?

AMY: Umida Giazdezh, she's an Uzbek free speech advocate—

SELINA: Fine.

AMY: Oh, no, scarred in an acid attack. So...

RICHARD: There's Dongmiya Kaiying, oh wait, never mind, she was executed. Unless...no, that's crazy.

AMY: We've got it, Nayaring Ayun, a women's rights dissident from, get this, the Sudan.

SELINA: Oh, really?

AMY: Yeah, she's currently under house arrest for opposing the very warlord who photobombed you.

SELINA: Oh my god!

AMY: Full quota of limbs, she's got a whole face...as a girl she was forced to undergo the traditional female genital cutting.

SELINA: Ugh, god—well that's not gonna be on camera so just set it up. That's perfect.

This is highly anecdotal, but...

There is a house I fairly regularly drive by that, for the past few months, has had a large TRUMP flag hanging out front.

Someone in the household is a veteran, as evidenced by the various military decals/license plates on cars parked in the driveway; I even looked up the house on the county property tax database and confirmed it receives a veteran's tax exemption.

Today, I drove by the house and the flag was gone.

Maybe they still plan on voting for Trump. Maybe this incident had nothing to do with the decision to take it down. Still seems very coincidental.

He could have gone by car.
