Usually about 2pm. And this is the norm for nearly all of my friends and neighbors, which makes me wonder if there is a regional variation to when Thanksgiving dinner is consumed.

(The fact that it's called "dinner" to begin with always seemed weird to me for this reason since I've never observed it being eaten in the evening anywhere other than in Thanksgiving TV sitcom specials.)

Between 12:30 and 1:00 pm.  We generally eat light the night before like Taco Salad and then have a small breakfast and then pop the turkey in the oven between 8:30 and 9:00 am.

The early meal could maybe be a German-American thing, borrowing from the tradition of lunch being the large, hot meal in German society.

Here, it varies by family but tends to be early evening (between 4 and 6).

This is why I'd be interested in seeing the geographic variation in this.

Are people in the Great Plains eating early while the English-Irish-Italian-etc Americans on the East Coast are holding off for a regular early evening dinner?
