Constitutional monarchy would probably have been a better model for Afghanistan to adopt back in 2002 than the Karzai regime...when was the last time a new monarchy was established (or an abolished monarchy reestablished) somewhere?
I always felt like restoring the Afghan monarchy would have been a good idea. I think this would be, too, provided it is a liberal, constitutional monarchy rather than Saudi Arabia.
I read somewhere that Mohammed Zahir Shah had expressed interest in reclaiming his throne in Afghanistan, but Bush & Co nixed it because FREEDOM. And then he died a couple of years later.
