"the same old Washington politics"

"we need to hold Congress/the President/Agency XYZ accountable to the American people"

"[the] taxpayers"

"both Democrats and Republicans are to blame for _______" (used by moderate heroes to try to sound evenhanded even when the issue in question is basically all one party's fault; used by Tea Partiers to sound like they're outside the political process and suspicious of both parties despite being in the tank for the Republicans)

"I will apply the principles I learned running my small business to serving as [governor/congressman/legislator]" (because they're totally the same thing)

"[hard-]working families" (used by Republicans to refer the beneficiaries of policies that basically only benefit rich people; used by Democrats to refer to families where no one is actually working)

"My opponent voted with [Nancy Pelosi/John Boehner/etc] 95% of the time" (includes procedural votes; completely dishonest)

"Ask" the rich to pay their "fair share" - when there's no asking anything because higher taxes on the so-called rich will be taken under penalty of law and the so-called rich already pay more than their share of the tax burden.

...huh? My "share" of the tax burden is by definition simply the amount of tax I pay divided by what everyone is paying in total. How can I pay more than what I pay? Are you suggesting some people are paying more tax than what they're legally required to pay? Because if that's the case, I don't see how that's anyone's fault but their own.
