In other words, he sure is acting like he's going to run for governor.

I'd just as soon take four more years of Rick Perry. This guy is trying to out-crazy the incumbent and providing none of the comic relief in the process.

Didn't Perry publicly state that he was running again and that Abbot and he came to an agreement on it?

Perry claimed earlier this year that Abbott had stated that he would not run if Perry opted to seek reelection. However, Abbott's office claimed no such conversation took place between the two. I think when all is said and done, Perry will probably announce, after the Legislature ends session at the end of May, that he is not going to run again, and be able to maintain his dignity with the implication that "I could have won again if I had run, but I just didn't want to." He'll leave office in January 2015, probably release another book soon after, and go into full-blown presidential campaign mode for as long as he can keep the gravy train going.
