Even thought it keeps having to bail out the PIIGS, Germany continues to benefit from its shared currency with them in the sense that its more productive workers always win out against their less productive ones without exchange rate arbitrage getting in the way. Their exports are more competitive and they have less incentive to import from other Eurozone countries.
