Gingrich endorse could deliver the state to Santorum. The Santorum+Gingrich vote would have handed Santorum victories in Michigan and Ohio.

Unlike nations elections, Cook County won't have as large as an impact as the rest of the state (look at the 2010 Gubernatorial, great win). If Santorum can hold Romney at bay in the Northern suburbs and turn out the South, he wins, and he wins big.
