They kind of do; he included them in the process at a juncture where McCarthy arrogantly told them to pound sand and then demanded their support anyway. This is how the game is played, and I say this as a Mike Johnson hater.
And with the lunatics holding the balance for the Republicans, the odds are that whoever gets in in Johnson's place will be much worse. While this might help the Dems electorally a bit, Speaker Van Orden or Speaker Biggs can do quite a bit of damage before then.
