Christie Elected President
A narrow win in his home state of New Jersey handed Governor Chris Christie the Presidency a little after 11 PM last night, as the Governor greeted thousands of joyful supporters in Trenton. A state away, however, it was a very different atmosphere, as those hoping to see history made faced defeat in Albany. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand fell just short in her quest to become America's first female President.

THE REVOLUTION OF 2016

HISTORIC VICTORY FOR THIRD-PARTY SLATE

Amid growing dissatisfaction with the polarization of the two-party system, America voted in the first non-Democrat/Republican ticket since the election of 1848. Governor Chris Christie, the Republican Governor of New Jersey who left the party in disgust after a series of high-profile disputes with the leadership, won a narrow electoral victory and avoiding what was sure to be a controversial battle in the House to decide the three-way race. The Democratic ticket of Senator Elizabeth Warren and Former Governor Martin O'Malley struggled from the start as a team of northeastern liberals, while the Republican ticket of Former Governor Bobby Jindal and Senator Rand Paul started out with a lead, but was dogged throughout by controversial statements about abortion and social security. That left an opening for Christie, who led a bipartisan ticket with former Indiana Senator Evan Bayh and was bankrolled by Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who endorsed the independent ticket early on. A narrow victory in the hotly contested state of Texas sealed the election for Christie around 3 AM last night. Now, the President-Elect will begin his transition with the difficult task of creating a bipartisan coalition for his Cabinet.

Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ)/Former Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN) - 272 electoral votes, 40.1% of the popular vote.
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)/Former Governor Martin O'Malley (D-MD) - 149 electoral votes, 32.2% of the popular vote
Former Governor Bobby Jindal (R-LA)/Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) - 117 electoral votes, 27.4% of the popular vote
