They said the same things about Republicans in the aftermath of the 1936 landslide for FDR or the 1964 landslide for LBJ or the 1972 landslide for Nixon: in the case of FDR he was able to run again 1940 & they were unique circumstances; the rest is available for public record, make of it what you will; Obama is certainly no Reagan, FDR or LBJ on the scale of his 2012 victory. His defeat of Romney was average size; so predictions of the Republican party are very overrated and subject to the whims of those pesky voters, who have a tendency to throw up inconvenient outcomes. So watch this space.
