Moniz, Perez or Pritzker would be nominees. Their backgrounds don't seem to be the best fit for potential Presidents.
Kerry and Hagel have been Senators. Foxx and Castro were big-city mayors. Vilsack was Governor. Jack Lew was OMB Director and White House Chief of Staff. Sylvia Burrell was OMB Director and Deputy Chief of Staff.
Arne Duncan has been Education Secretary for some time, and run a tough bureaucracy as superintendent of Chicago schools.
Holder might have a tough time shifting from relatively free rein as AG to the presidency, but he would have had many years in the national spotlight.
Johnson has eclectic experience as assistant US Attorney, and General Counsel to the Air Force and Department of Defense.
McDonald was CEO of one of the largest and most successful companies on the planet (Procter & Gamble.)
