It's an interesting question.

Unlike Clinton and the Bushes, he doesn't have family members with their own political ambitions.

Supreme Court's one possibility if Democrats win the White House, although that would be a fight. And I'm not sure he wants to be just one of nine members in a court where there are more conservatives than liberals.

He'll likely be a spokesman for Democratic candidates in the decades to come.

It might be worth creating something like the Carter foundation to bring attention to worthy causes.
