I think with this sort of thing, you have to assume that these parties (somehow... it really doesn't matter how as this sort of thing is entirely hypothetical) grew up naturally, rather than a direct transfer of parties (if that makes any sense. Hey, I know what I mean anyway...).

Basically you look at what sort of area votes strongly SPD (or CDU, or ALP or whatever) and see if you can find similer areas in the U.S, or you look at somewhere in the U.S, see if you can find a similer area in Germany (or Britain, or Australia, or Iceland or wherever) and the see how that area votes. And so on.
