Well I wasn't bothering much with this thread 'cos this election was looking about as competitive as the average Soviet one (apt given that Newfies first Canadian-era Premier was an unironic admirer of the USSR despite being a 'Liberal'), but, yes, beware of constituency polls etc.

Joey Smallwood edited a pro-Bolshevik newspaper in New York in the 1920's, and the vote to join Canada was ever so slightly rigged.

And continued to admire the Soviet system throughout his life and as Premier ran Newfies accordingly. One of the weirder episodes in Canadian history.
