Looks nasty, yeah. What is it with all this eighties revivalism going on right now?

I thought the British police didn't carry guns?

Normal officers don't, but there are armed units.

Quite a picture. They'll probably have to knock the building down.

Anyways, serious questions need to be asked about the policing. Multiple questions. Serious ones at that. This sort of sh!t really ought not to happen.

A comment over at Crooked Timber gets it about right, I think:

BBC has a video of the Mayor being heckled in Clapham here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14464139
/
Edit: the main complaint - basically - is 'where the f*** were you all last night?'

Do we have any posters that live in London?

A couple. Silent Hunter is the only long-term regular one; lives near Romford out in the 'burbs, so out of harms way (hopefully).

Could the Americans posting on this thread please kindly refrain from providing evidence to bolster unfortunate and deeply regrettable national stereotypes.

Anyways, questions also need to be asked about the media coverage of all of this, especially the 24 news channels. They've made things a lot worse, I think.

McDonald's and the Town Centre about a 5 minute drive away from me got smashed up about an hour ago. In the next road to one of my friends.

London or one of the outlying areas.

Neither, he lives on the Wirral.

Really, really wet out here today. Get the feeling that the police would kill for the weather system to have moved just a little bit further east...

I don't disagree, but all of the credible alternatives ended up backing him for various reasons. Lammy would have been good.
