The first election I followed in any meaningful way (I was aware of various elections before then, but only in a pretty distant way - have, for example, clear memories of Bill Clinton being re-elected, but didn't follow the election. Was slightly interested though, a sign of things to come) was the 1997 General Election here. From then until 2002 I used to look for news of elections (anywhere) in newspapers. First election that I also followed using the internet was the 2002 federal election in Germany. After that...
