So actually it doesn't matter who wins the special, because they can't run in the primary for the November one ?

No, the chosen candidate will almost certainly be one who has already filed.

So Ken Buck's gamble is:

1.Select an anti-Boebert candidate from the primary shortlist for the special.

2.Hold the special before June's regular primary, in the hope that the anti-Boebert candidate beats Boebert.

I'm I right ?

The special is almost certain to be on the same day/ballot as the June primary. The Republican candidate for the special while not technically the incumbent will be viewed as such by many voters.

Harvey+Sonnenberg still have two more votes than Lopez and Holtorf.

But when one of them is knocked out next round their supporters probably go Lopez/placeholder rather than give the other guy a leg up in the full term primary.

He says the “jury is still out” on whether climate change should be a priority for lawmakers. And he told Colorado Matters that he would not have implemented many pandemic restrictions, comparing vaccine mandates to racial segregation.

He opposes legal abortion, with no exceptions for rape, incest or the life of the mother. His campaign says, however, that he would allow operations to remove a non-viable but still-living fetus. (Ganahl generally opposes abortion but supports exceptions for all three of those reasons.)

In a speech at the GOP assembly, Lopez promised to abolish “critical race theory and the sexualization of our kids from public schools.”

Lopez served as Director of the Small Business Administration from 2008-2014. He settled a federal case involving influence peddling after leaving the SBA, saying he was never made aware of the rule he was accused of violating. He was also arrested for drunk driving and, 30 years ago, for domestic violence when he was Mayor of Parker. He says everyone makes mistakes and says he's learned from his.

PUEBLO — U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert’s name will be first on the June 25 Republican primary ballot in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District after she won the district’s GOP nominating assembly Friday.

Boebert won 41% of the delegate vote, enough to prevent former state Sen. Ted Harvey of Highlands Ranch from appearing on the ballot. He received about 26% of the delegate vote, but needed 30% to make the ballot.

There are several other candidates who could make the primary ballot if they turned in enough valid signatures. Harvey will not be on the ballot because he relied solely on the assembly and did not file a petition.
