It sounds like it has a bigger problem with fascism.

Apparently, but I'm sure we all agree that this is hardly a solution.

Never said it was, but one of the things I have consistently heard about Hawaii over the years is that there is a bad homeless problem.  Just wanted to add a little context.

Also the article says he rouses them from sleeping at bus stops during the day but leaves them alone at night.  It kind of sucks to pay taxes for a bus stop and then have your wife and kid stand in the rain because some guy is sleeping in it... which I am sure is illegal.

The problem is a lot of homeless people have mental health issues.  They are not just lazy people who would rather get drunk and sleep under bridges.  So I can see a really volatile situation happening between some guy in desperate need of mental health services and a "tough guy" with a sledge hammer.  This type of thing is best addressed by people trained in these matters who have backup.
