Which of these two media outlets is more biased, or spins the conversation in their favor? I of course choose MSNBC (R).

Probably MSNBC, though they don't openly lie nearly as much. Both networks, of course, are tools of the bourgeois establishment.

Just curious.  If MSNBC is the most biased why is the biggest chunk of their daily weekday programing devoted to a Republican former Congressman?  Is that the way it works over at Fox?  Do they give twice as much time to a Democratic former Congressman to even things out and be less biased than MSNBC?  Which show is that?  I'd like to watch it.

After the Republican is on for three hours on MSNBC in the morning the wife of the longest serving Republican Fed Chairman in my lifetime kicks off the afternoon with a one hour show... pretty biased.

I like Bret Baier and Sheppard Smith more than most of the daytime MSNBC hosts, but Fox's prime time hosts are just awful to me.

Well prime time is a naked partisan circus on both channels.  I suppose MSNBC is more honest about it.  Although I like what they are doing with Chris Hayes.  And Steve Kornacki is pretty good on weekends.  I can't stand Ed, Sharpton, and even Matthews is getting a bit old.  I like the younger more wonkish types.  So if I had to pick my favorites it would be Steve Kornacki, Chris Hayes, Maddow, and the Republican former Congressman who is on for three hours a day.

An independent study showed that 85% (!) of MSNBC "reporting" is opinion. FOX News wasn't near that.

This is a totally inaccurate characterization.  If you are going to make a statement please link to your source and include a quote.

Well from 6-9am is an entire block devoted to a REPUBLICAN former Congressman.  Is there anything like that on Fox?  How does that make MSNBC the bad guys?

Also there is nothing wrong with an opinion show.  I like opinion shows.  They report the news for a few minutes and then discuss the event at length.  What is wrong with that?  Have you ever watched CNN during the day?  It is just a repetitive 15 minute loop.  Face it on many days not that much news happens.  At least not that much that a US audience would care to listen to.

The problem with this little "study" is it doesn't say whether the reporting at Fox is TRUE and it doesn't say whether Fox gives any kind of equal time to the other side in it's line up.  I would rather have a three hour opinion show on MSNBC run by a Republican former Congressman than six hours of blatant lies masquerading as "factual" reporting over on Fox.

MSNBC's morning shows are actually really fair and moderate up to Alex Wagner, but then for the rest of the day its shows are just left-wing propaganda.

The Republican Fed Chairman's wife spews "left-wing propaganda"?

I'm not sure how you can say Bill O'Reilly isn't biased and then accuse a Republican Fed Chairman's wife of "left-wing propaganda."

O'Reilly is very moderate. His views are center-right, but I'd like someone to be able to explain the crime in that to me. Just because he's not a wild eyed liberal...

He said black kids shouldn't wear hoodies...

You think that is a "very moderate" attitude in 2013?

I think you are talking about Greenspan's wife Andrea Mitchell. Everybody knows Andrea Mitchell is a Democrat. She is a good reporter I'll give her that though.

I'm not aware of her political affiliation but from what I've seen she seems like a decent reporter.  If there has be some real controversy I may have missed it.  I just objected to giving OReilly a pass and lumping her in with "left-wing propaganda."  To me Fox is biased around the clock.  Obviously certain hours are way more than others and I'm sure legit reporters work at Fox.  I don't watch it enough to really know who they are.  Major Garrett was pretty prominent at Fox and he seems pretty reasonable to me from the post-Fox stuff I have seen.

Find me the source where O'Reilly said "black kids shouldn't wear hoodies" for proof so that I can defend him please. I want the entire conversation or talking point too, not just one simplistic line. Thanks.

This is a forum that deals with politics.  O'Reilly's comments are common knowledge.  If you don't know about them google is your friend.  I'm usually more than happy to provide quotes and links but in this instance I don't think I'm going to waste my time.  If you think O'Reilly is a moderate then enjoy continuing to lose the black vote 99% to 1.

Of course I'm sure you are also going to say you never heard the despicable things O'Reilly said about the Dixie Chicks when they opposed the Iraq war.

FOX is more passive aggressive about it though, MSNBC is pretty blatant.

I personally like how MSNBC devotes the biggest block of time in their week day schedule to a Republican.  Gotta love the bias.
