90 day poll.
This comparison is now being made. I am curious to see what you'all think about it.

It's the equivalent of calling me a 'baby murderer.'

Creeping religious authoritarianism in the West isn't some 'top down' capture. It's grassroots in it's formation and appeal and served by well meaning 'but I wouldn't go that far' fellow travellers.
Good point.

If Evangelicals=Taliban than the US before the sexual revolution=Taliban.
Actually the poll says GOP evangelicals, and I shouldn't have generalized.
Not all GOP evangelicals think alike. Perhaps even a majority of GOP evangelicals should not be labeled as the same as the more extreme ones.

Also evangelicals are not the same as Islamic rightwing
extremists in one way. Evangelicals don't tend to hate one another. Islamic right wingers seem to be much more divided. It is true that some Catholics and Protestants hate each other, although this may be changing, but in Islamic theocracies Sunnis and Shias seem to hate each other, from what I have heard (I am talking about the extreme ones). I don't really know, because I am not an expert on Islam. Certainly many Muslims (there is at least one at Atlas), are very good people.

I am thinking mostly about how popular Trump is and he certainly is not the nicest person in the world, by far. Even Trump is not an anti-vaxxer, but he caved in pretty quickly to those who booed him for saying that he got vaccinated.
