Out of an abundance of caution, I'm holding off on a concession. We'll see what happens next. Maybe I somehow win. Maybe I'll try again in a few weeks. Maybe I'll turn my attention to the Pacific.

But I'll give the big speech when we know what's happened.

I for one am glad that Simfan is showing commitment to his new role by withdrawing from this race.

Of course, he could have served as *both* Senator and Attorney General, as per the Semi-Presidential Amendment, which allows Talleyrand to serve as Senator and Deputy Secretary of Federal Elections. Tongue

Well, I am increasing the juggling act.

SIMFAN: WINFIELD IS MY CHOICE FOR PRESIDENT

NYMAN (UPA)- Game Moderator Simfan34 declared today that he is supporting former Northeast Governor Winfield's bid for the presidency in the upcoming elections in June.

"I will be supporting Winfield and Andrew in their campaign," he said. "They have my full support and I intend to help them in any way I can in the coming weeks; they are the true supporters of The People and I believe that this is enough to get them over the top."

Simfan, who previously served as Winfield's Lieutenant Governor from July to October 2011, ran with Winfield for Vice President on a Social Credit Party (SCP) ticket in the February 2012 election. In that race Winfield and Simfan received 5% of the vote and placed in fourth. Winfield also ran in the October 2012 election and placed third, with 11.4% of the vote.

Queried on whether he thought Winfield could perform better in the upcoming election, Simfan said that he thought so. "Without a doubt, they will do better- they're going to win. Why? Because this time I think they've started from a position of strength, they have significant firepower lining up behind them at an early stage. Which is something we didn't have in 2012."

He said that Winfield's platform represented "a real change from business as usual" and his remarks showed "the insightfulness and measured thought that we have come to expect from Governor Winfield." As for the the choice of Former Governor AndrewTX, Simfan said that "the choice showed a lot of verve, a lot of gumption," and that it was "by far the strongest ticket out there."

Asked why he endorsed Winfield over the only TPP candidate in the race, SirNick, or Pacific Governor DemPGH, Labor's candidate, with whom he has worked closely, Simfan remarked that "SirNick and DemPGH have been good, solid leaders in their regions, and they would be good presidents- I'd be contented with them in office. But I honestly believe that only Winfield would be a great President in the mould of Duke, Polnut, or Averroes- those who have been amongst The People."

Simfan currently serves not only as Game Moderator, but also Attorney General and a Pacific Councillor. Exiled for twelve years, Simfan made a triumphant return in March 2013. Prior to his exile, he served as a Senator, Speaker of the Northeast Assembly, two times Northeast Lieutenant Governor, member of the Assembly, and Chief Judicial Officer.

I am surprised by the support that Federalists appear to be giving DemPGH. Do they know something (particularly regarding his ability to stand up to his own party) I do not?

I simply didn't know that Federalists wanted someone who would probably sign in favor of large tax increases, nationalisations, polygamy, and pretty much everything conservatives hate.

I'll say it again, this time without the circumlocution: as far as I am concerned, every Labor elected official, unless proven otherwise, is simply another TNF, seeing as they seem to show little resistance to his proposals.

I'm not passing judgement on that either way (not that my position is unclear), but it strikes me as odd that Federalists seem to feel fine supporting Labor candidates in light of that fact.

The idea my political opinions would have somehow disappeared magically upon my assuming office would have convinced no-one, so I don't see the point of keeping up some charade about it. If someone were to challenge a "declaration" of mine, I'd be sure to support it with facts. If we want to talk political use of office, we can talk about that, but I doubt that's a route you want to go down, yes?

I think it would solve a lot of problems, don't you?

I think it's clear that most people either are incapable of making the right choice or that the outcome will upset some people, so why not? It solves all the issues we've had recently.

That's my Duke! Now, we need the Functional Constituencies Act of 2014.

I mean, I'd gladly go down that road if I had reason to, but I'll agree that no one wants to do that.

But it's one thing to expect your political opinions to disappear, but it's another thing entirely to be bassooning them from a hilltop.

Well yes. I have different offices. From one office I carry out my duties as GM, and from another I spew right-wing bile. Smiley

You are building this coalition by appointing someone who supported TNF over a Federalist? Acting like one can accomplish "social goals" is a fools errand, as I said, we can always invent some new social issue. Right now the D-Rs are pretty much just a social liberal party, I don't see much fiscal conservatism being effected from them.

Indeed, I have more faith right now that Windjammer as the Senate's tie breaker would be more socially conservative than the guy- good guy he is- who gave the NE polygamy and child pornography.

You're not going to get all the people under this tent to agree on everything. But you need to cast it as widely as possible. Now you have me thinking I should join the Feds, if they appoint me their chairman. After all, I did found the Whig Party...

Oh come on, its easy to pile on sirnick now that he is getting creamed but lets not act like simfan isn't a right wing federalist who has played a big part in spreading petty attacks against the left. He's closer to a Riley than a sirnick.

I wasn't really aware of that... what race? Matt is in the NE and TNF is in the MW, no?

Dallasfan is in the NE too.

I know that.

I believe Matt was the sole Federalist to support TNF's reelection bid in February, even voting for the party to endorse him over Rooney.

Yeah, that doesn't really follow. This is why the party need direction?

So, Apparently I'm Running for Governor...

When I woke up this morning I had no plans for running for any office in the immediate future. So I was surprised to find that by this afternoon, not only was I the leading candidate to be next Pacific Governor, but I had even been endorsed by outgoing Gov. Cranberry! So things have  gotten off on a rather... unusual start. But I like it! If only all races were like this.

So why vote for me? I plan to stay on the reformist track set by Governor Cranberry. I will continue efforts to grow the region.

A PEOPLE-ORIENTED POLICY
March 12, 2014 - San Francisco

My fellow Atlasians, I have been overjoyed by the news that The People's Party has once again returned to our land, just as I have. What this means is that The People's champions have returned, that this country of ours has had this crucial voice return to the stage. What we are trying to do now is the same thing we have done before- advance the interests of all of The People.

Even though The Party is returning only now, The People have been well-represented in the time before hand. Our last three Presidents, including the present President, Duke, have been amongst The People. Of the last eight presidents, five have been amongst The People. What this means is that The People, all along, have truly been in control. So why, you might ask, is The Party necessary at all? The Party should and must return at this point because the voice of The People cannot remain a whisper! I have heard the whispers in the wind, and so have many others of us who have been amongst The People. But we cannot merely whisper, indeed, we must shout the will of The People from the highest rooftops, the lowest canyons, the meanest streets. The People must be heard anywhere and everywhere!

Some say The Party is left wing, some say it right wing. They are wrong. The Party transcends traditional notions of "right" and "left"- serving The People does not indicate a sort of partisan lean! We stand firmly for choice and liberty, for the right for The People to determine the manner in which they live their lives- and this means choosing whom and how they love, but also the freedom to choose how and where they work. It means freeing The People from the tyranny of both the boss and the foreman, and to exchange one mean regime for another. It means The People must reign supreme.

Thus, The Party supports what advances the welfare and liberty of The People, and opposes what constrains it. I, and all of those in The Party, are at the mere disposal of enforcing and preserving the will of The People- to the ends of the Earth if need be! That is our policy, one fully oriented and focused on The People; not one segment thereof, nor merely those who are in The Party, but all The People.

Thank you, and long live The People!
