I wish Duke, PiT, and X the best of luck in what seems to be a mysterious case. My prayers are going out to them tonight.

It's not clear to me that this bill is constitutional, and as Duke had said, these sort of things have not ever worked in the past. Therefore, I am vetoing this bill.

We did it!

From all of your hard work, all of your messaging, campaigning, and most important, voting, had brought us over the finish line in a blazing line of glory, winning in a landslide.

This victory showed us quite a few things, including one of the highest turnout rates (if not the highest -- I'm not about to look through 10 years of voting booths) in Southern history: at 88%. We saw the highest turnout rate here as well; our election had a 16% larger turnout rate than the National At-large election, and a 33% larger turnout rate than the Northeast Assembly election. We saw a victory that saw us win by a 2-1 margin, and I'm thankful and honored that the South chose to re-elect me, and they chose the route of activity and big ideas, and we will be doing big things in my second term.

Did I also mention I'm the first incumbent since 2010 to win a second term? Grin

Y'all ain't seen nothing yet. Wink

I'm going to keep this short: Basically we're spending $130b more in the 2014 fiscal budget than necessary (funds funneled towards a program that didn't even exist anymore), so I'm putting together a tax commission, consisting of Potus and Averroes Nix, deciding how and where we'll put these tax dollars to use.

While I'm here, I'd like to ask if a few Southerners could move to our unpopulated states. We have no persons in Mississippi, New Brunswick, or Newfoundland. If you live in one of the states that has a big population (I'm talking to y'all registered in Texas) please consider moving! Cheesy

I've spoken with SoIA Barnes, and we, along with a few other members of the Federal government, will be discussing the best way to crush the insurgency. More information will be provided as time goes on.

The tax commish has decided, and I'll push forward
  • Eliminating the personal income tax ($57 billion)
  • Eliminating the corporate income tax ($9 billion)
  • Eliminating the business tax ($38 billion)
  • Expanding pensions ($25 billion)

I'm confused: does this mean you want to get rid of the income tax?

Here's what happened: in the FY2014 budget, the legislature spent $130 billion on a healthcare program that didn't even exist before. It's a great example of budgetary oversight, but we're able to end some taxes, expand the pension plans of our workers, and still stay in the green, and it's a unique opportunity we're in, and we should expand the surplus slightly as well.

Ah... ha

I debated between either posting a picture of a big tent that vaguely resembled one from a circus, or making a sassy comment...

...

  • So the South running on sales tax and starlight now? Huh

  • Flo your E score is practically as far to the left as mine

I had originally wanted to eliminate the sales tax, but it had too much of our revenue for it to be possible. Sad

I'd like to take my time today to announce my support for the reelection of our dear President Bore. As y'all know, I was one of the first people to endorse him in his initial bid for the Presidency, and not for a moment have I regretted that decision. President Bore has served with the people of Atlasia in mind, governing with fairness and integrity, and it would be a crying shame if he is not reelected.

My friends, people of the South; I urge each and every one of you to support our President in his bid for reelection.

Which seat did PiT hold, again, Flo?

A legislative seat (not entirely sure if that's what you're asking though).

Also: I've started the interview process with applicants interested in serving. I'll be nominating someone tomorrow night.

Are you using a disctrict system for this legislative seat ?

Districts were abolished last year iirc

Just like to announce that as a result of the ongoing crisis that I'll be staffing the borders of the Southern region with regional military forces, and I'd love to see President Bore give us some of the feds in order for us not to be attacked.
