Alternate Universe where the economy is always good and there is no terrorism, war, or foreign crises.

1992: George H.W. Bush is re-elected, Ross Perot doesn't run, and Bush defeats Bubba, with 53% of the popular vote versus 46% for Clinton.

1996: Ann Richards, the D Governor of Texas, defeats R nominee Bob Dole, 55% - 44%.  Voters like Richards personally, and have Republican fatigue after 16 long years of them in power.

2000: President Richards presides over an especially good late-90s economy.  The Republicans choose John McCain, Arizona senator.  Richards defeats McCain, 55% - 44%.

2004: The R primary is a battle between John McCain, the 2000 nominee, and George W. Bush, who succeeded Ann Richards as Governor of Texas.  Bush wins and proceeds to easily defeat Howard Dean, who won the D primary, 54% - 45%.

2008: George W. Bush is defeated for re-election by Barack Obama, Senator from Illinois.  The economy under Bush had been fine, but Obama runs a great campaign and manages to defeat Bush, 51% to 48%.

2012: Donald Trump defeats the Bush wing in the R primary and goes up against President Obama, who with no economic woes is more popular.  Obama expands his popular vote margin in his re-election, 55% to 44%.

2016: Joe Biden, VP to Obama, wins the D nomination.  Trump again wins the R nomination.  Biden is elected POTUS, 52% to 47%.

2020: I'm not sure who would win this one, what do you think?
