Not sure. I consider myself pretty far left, and definitely want to see universal public insurance but I don't see any reason to disallow the existence of private coverage that plays fair. (I.e. no "my employer only lets me have their crap insurance that doesn't cover anything so they don't have to pay for their share of the public option.")
