Good to surround himself with generals.

I sort-of agree with you.  When the increasingly inevitable coup happens, I'd prefer that the generals launching it be in a position to take over as smoothly as possible.

I don't want a coup at all, but if we're going to get one anyway it might as well be as orderly as such a thing can be.

I understand and sort-of share the worry. But compared to Trump, Kelly seems like a steady hand. (Compared to Trump, most posters here seem like steady hands.)

The GOP can end this clown circus at any time by impeaching him. (And if necessary, Pence too.)

I just realized, Trump actually called Kelly, 'Great Leader'.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Leader

I'll give him a pass on this one, and assume he's just an imbecile rather than malevolently hinting at his aspirations to turn Kelly (or himself) into dictator.

Who would want to go from Secretary of DHS to Trump's CoS?

Someone contemplating a coup?

So is Trump going to set the record for most presidential administrative/cabinet turnover in history? We're just 6 months in and he has already replaced scores of people!

What else did anyone expect (once it was demonstrated he couldn't shift gears)? He's running his administration as a reality TV show. And Trump is not inventive. When he finds a formula that works for him, he beats it to death with a stick.

Kelly is trying to bring discipline to the White House. But that's impossible without eventually saying "no" to the spoiled brat in the Oval Office about something.  And when that happens, this will be one more stone in the bucket that sinks Kelly, too.
