Cruz counters Beto's proposed 6 debates with 5. Which sounds great, except that they're all scheduled for Friday nights and the proposal is "all inclusive and final."

I don't know. Most people are out on Friday nights and, unless they are political junkies, won't stay home to watch a senate debate.

That doesn't make them irrelevant though. It just means that instead of being free publicity (which would probably be of net benefit to Beto) they're going to be soundbyte/gaffe/youtube magnets. Cruz probably thinks that benefits him (and it's certainly better on average for him than high viewership debates) but it's not a bad chance for Beto either.
