Sadly nothing will come of this. This time next year he'll still be AG and most will have forgotten.

Not necessarily -this could spur Republicans to appoint a special prosecutor to look into the matter in a way previous findings hadn't.

McCain and Graham do not speak for your average "Republicans".

Very true. They appear to have at least small bits of brain matter that haven't been replaced by bad steak covered in cheap gold paint.

He will not resign. That's like trying to pull a steak out of a dog's mouth.

Which is really worse, because unless this goes away quickly, the only alternative should be a special prosecutor. Not that I really expect the GOP to have decency or honesty to appoint one, but if they want to spend the next four or eight years with that rotting albatross around their necks, well I suppose we can work with that too.

But any Democratic Congressperson who isn't calling for resignation or special prosecutor needs to be primaried.

Did Sessions say something false in his testimony? Yes. Was he intentionally lying? Almost definitely. Can that be proven? Very unlikely.

Um, the transcript combined with the fact that he met with the Russian ambassador prove he's lying.
To paraphrase:

Franken: "Hey, people are saying that parts of Team Trump met with the Russian government. What would you do if that turned out to be true?"

Sessions then volunteered: "They called me part of Team Trump and I totally did not ever talk to the Russians."

Justice Dept: "Um, you met with the Russian ambassador. Twice. Privately."

Under any government but Pussygrabber's dictatorship, that's a *conviction*.

lol.

The reps/msm attempt to create fake scandals from retinue, mundane things proves just how intellectually and morally bankrupt they are. For months the media has been pushing this lie, and for months they've been forced to admit, buried at the end of every 'story', that there isn't any evidence for these wild claims. Yet they put 'EMAILS, INVESTIGATION, CLINTON' in sensational headlines anyway. It's beyond absurd at this point. It's blatant propaganda.

Nice non-sequitur.

And Hillary certainly did set up a private server.
She certainly did bit bleach all of her emails the day after they were subpoenaed.

Both of these things were a violation of federal law. Guess what, she got away with it anyways because she's a Clinton. You support this.

"Whataboutism is a term describing a propaganda technique used by the Soviet Union in its dealings with the Western world during the Cold War. When criticisms were levelled at the Soviet Union, the response would be "What about..." followed by the naming of an event in the Western world.[1][2] It represents a case of tu quoque (appeal to hypocrisy),[3] a logical fallacy which attempts to discredit the opponent's position by asserting the opponent's failure to act consistently in accordance with that position, without directly refuting or disproving the opponent's initial argument."

Before anyone else gets too excited, it will be very difficult to PRoVE Sessions forgot or omitted testimony intentionally, which is why perjury is tough to convict on. That said, it doesn't look good

If he cannot remember two one on one meeting with the Russian ambassador, then he is mentally deficient just like Pussygrabber. And like Pussygabber, he needs to be removed from office on grounds of gross incompetence.

What happens when the US Justice Dept attempts to bring perjury charges, and the defendants use this exact same defense?

Session would've been confirmed even if he said "yes i met up with Russian Ambassador". this is amateur hour mistakes.

He wasn't even asked about his contacts with the Russian ambassador. It's like he heard the question and immediately went into a guilty panic of "deny everything!"

The White House is hanging Sessions out to dry.  They say they only learned yesterday, through press reports, that Sessions had contact with the Russian envoy during the campaign.

I don't see a win for them in this, it'll be less damaging to have it finished sooner rather than later. Sure, a second resignation/firing (if it comes to that) will be BAD, but having on ongoing investigation will be WORSE. And a special prosecutor is the stuff of Trump's nightmares.

Just off the top of my head, then, we're at:

Trump having a history of doing business (to the tune of tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars) with high net worth Russian individuals (some affiliated with the Putin government).

Manafort & Co, who have previously worked for the Russians, and who recommended taking Russian-critical language out of the party platform (while making no other major changes).

Ivanka going on vacation with a woman believed to be a personal and intimate friend of President Putin.

Russian intelligence groups stealing emails from the DNC. Trump openly asking Russian intelligence to publicly release email contents they had stolen, which they did.

Trump associates display knowledge of email contents prior to their being released.

Confirmed contacts between Trump campaign surrogates and supporters and Russian officials, with more such contacts alleged.

Trump's National Security Advisor having multiple, possibly illegal, contacts with high-ranking Russian officials, which he then attempted to conceal from the VP and others.

Trump's son-in-law was also present for a meeting between the NSA and the Russian Ambassador, with the Ambassador's presence being kept secret from the public.

Trump is allegedly being blackmailed by the Russian government.

Trump fires the DoJ official responsible for investigating his NSA's contacts with Russia.

Trump's Secretary of State has a long history of personal and business ties with Russia and Russian leadership.

Trump's Secretary of Commerce has a long history of business ties with Russia and Russian oligarchs.

Trump's Attorney General lied under oath to conceal his contact with the Russian Ambassador, and then lied again when explaining them.

Trump's administration fires State Dept officials advising his UN Ambassador how to stand up to Russian aggression.
