I think this tests swings Right Conservatives towards libertarian to try and get them to switch parties..Here is another example. I have yet to see one Republican land in the Right Conservative arena.

I disagree:

Let's look at the questions the way a "typical" republican should answer them.

The typical republican thinks that objectional content should be banned from TV, radio, and the Internet.   They should answer this either Maybe or No

I  have met very few Republicans who aren't for everyone serving in the military for at least 2 years.  They should answer this No

We gotta ban gay marriage and strengthen our crimes against nature law.  Obviously they're going to answer No here

Damn hippies they should all be in jail.  They're going to answer No here too.

Necessary to stop the terrorists.  They're going to answer No here too.

So that's a 0-10 on Personal issues.

Let's look at the Economic Issues questions now

I've noticed a disturbing trend that a lot of Republicans think we should help businesses with government handouts.  Let's say the go with Maybe

Unless you're Pat Buchannan you're going to say Yes here.

This was one of Bush's big issues in the 2000 election. They're going to say Yes here.

My church can do a better job helping these people and getting them to become productive members of society.  They're going to say Yes here.

There are a lot of big government republicans out there.  They'll probably say Maybe to this.

So that's 80 on economics...

And we plot it:

Right smackdabed in the Right Conservative section.

I would submit that the Republicans who fall into the Libertarian section should change parties or fix the Republican party.

stry_cat,

I disagree with your assesment of a typical Republican.

For social issues:

On #1, Republicans hate most regulations on content, such as equal time rules.  They oppose regualtions on political speech (campaign finance reform) and have an inordinate fear that they will have their right to free speech taken away by the PC police.

Then we can put them firmly in the maybe camp on this.  Like I said TV, Radio, and Internet they're usually the ones leading the charge to ban or filter content.

You're from California, you don't have any real republicans out there most likely.   Maybe it's just the high ex-military concentration in VA, but it's a very widely held view.

For most people this doesn't even enter their mind.  They're usually thinking "do I support the principles behind NAFTA (not the soverignty issues with NAFTA)?"     At worst they'll be a maybe here.

This question is about welfare not government services. Is it better for the government to help the poor or for your local church to help the poor?

That would be a Long term goal not an overnight thing.  Although I personally don't think there would be all that dramatic social reprecussions.

That seems to me to be how the typical Republican Congressman votes, so I'm not going to argue too much.
