What is Inception's social message and what did it win?

Anyway, Scarface is a severely overrated movie. It's just a sh**tty 80s movie in the end.

It captured the 80s perfectly.

As in being terrible, yes.

TDK and TDKR are waaaayyy too widely criticized on the internet for me to consider them overrated.

I think most movies generally - and certainly the hyped ones - made in the last 10-12 years or so are terrible.

I strongly disagree. I think the past ten or so years have produced excellent cinema, perhaps some of the best since the so called "golden age" of film in the 1970s. It just depends where you're looking I suppose.

The fact that Avatar got nominated for Best Picture is mind boggling.

I don't think Avatar is that great, but there are plenty of Oscar nominees that are worse, It's just easy to pick on Avatar because it made so much money.

And because it's sh**t.

No one's mentioned Michael Clayton yet, but that BP nominee was torture to sit through.

I didn't mind it.  Syriana was worse George Clooney Oscarbait.

I liked both of them, particularly Syriana...

Of course it's been years since I've seen either of them so who knows.

This kind of thing mostly comes down to personal taste, yes?

Precisely.

I liked The Tree of Life but I knew what to expect going in.

I love the Tree of Life, but it obviously isn't everyone's cup of camomile, so wouldn't judge someone for disliking it. I would judge someone for hating (say) Caché though.

This one?

I'm not familiar with it. Guess I'll have to add it to my queue.

I've only seen part of "Braveheart", but was not a huge fan of it by any stretch. Maybe if I'd paid more attention, but in any case, I didn't. As well, when looking into wikipedia, I found that there were some utterly unforgivable historical errors.
Wikipedia also has some utterly unforgivable historical errors.

Oldiesfreak1854 also has some utterly unforgivable historical errors.

I just thought of another: the remake of The Karate Kid.  I have yet to see the original, but I could tell from the remake that the original is vastly superior.
And if we're talking about accuracy, the remake should really be called The Kung Fu Kid.
I have a feeling that Elf is overrated as well.

Who in the world thought highly of the remake of The Karate Kid for it to be considered overrated?
