A few bright spots but too heavy handed overall.

His politics are starting to drag down his films. Wall Street 2 and W were pitifully bad storytelling. 

I agree, JFK, Nixon and Platoon are some of my favourite films (JFK is #1) ... but he's so heavy-handed that it's silly now.

While JFK is very well acted and directed, its distortions of history and fact are so horrendous and endless (particularly egregious is the suggestion that LBJ was involved in the assassination) that I can't bring myself to call it a great, or even good, film.

I will admit that I do kinda enjoy ANY GIVEN SUNDAY.

The fact that people put PLATOON on the same level as APOCALYPSE NOW is ludicrous. The best thing the former has going for it is it's use of "Adiago for Strings."
