While Brandon would make a good AG he has been one before. I am sure the RPP will support, consistent with their current practice, someone new - rather than 'old guard' therefore his nomination would not pass the Senate. Instead they would propose someone new.

That's if the RPP were consistent of course...

EDIT: For reference -

We felt Andrew had a clear choice, he could pick a regionalist with the new guard of Atlasia in mind, or he could pick someone who has already been president (and might I add at the time I voted for).  He chose the latter, so we moved elsewhere.

Which is why in an RPP dominated Senate I don't think Brandon stands a chance...

Capital idea! What newcomer to the game would you say has comparable qualifications to Brandon H? It would be wonderful to have some up & coming legal expert become our next Attorney General. Smiley

Absolutely! Which is why I fully expect the RPP to be behind appointing someone new to the role Smiley

There are I'm sure, many experts out there who are capable. Some are capable through necessity - old dogs like myself who have had to read the Constitution over the past few years. Others are newer to the scene who are familiar with the Constitution because they wish to reform it and have had to read it to understand it; PurpleState springs to mind. He would be a good and fresh pick.

No Activity Senate Race Wise

Though several senators and candidates, including DWTL, Purple State, Franzl, and Afleitch, have launched campaigns, nothing has really gotten off the ground.  Sen. BaconKing, who has missed several votes this session is the only incumbent who has not made their April plans known.

This may be to with the Constitutional Convention and the fact that candidates have declared early. However things should pick up speed in the next few weeks.

I would however like to alert readers of this paper to my campaign thread Grin where you can read proposals to;

- Introduce private, third sector and not for profit private agencies to help people find work.
- 'Bankable' and flexible leave for newborns so that parents and not the state choose who provides
 childcare.
- Helping charities and voluntary organisations operate better with a fair return on their money.
- Establishing a privately run 'National/Regional Lottery' to invest in good causes.
- Establishing Social Enterprise Zones in Atlasia - areas where relaxed tax and benefit rules would help social entrepreneurs and the voluntary sector deal with problems such as drug abuse.
- Reduce taxation on small businesses.
- Allow small business to defer in part, the payment of tax to the government to stop them going under.

And of course extending my Income Tax Reduction Act or working with your own proposals to introduce a Flat Tax to ensure that taxes on the whole are lowered across Atlasia.

I greatly appreciate Afleitch's updates in his campaign thread and I hope to be able to work with him effectively in the next Senate.

On a side note....I am also regularly updating my campaign/office thread and outlining my thoughts on various current pieces of legislation. I encourage everyone to take a look and comment on anything that catches their eye.

You have one of the most regularly updated office threads which I'm pleased to dip in an out of. You also explain things well to your national constituents. More of the same please Senators Smiley

I applaud this senate for what it has done, which is said enough is enough with angry letters and took some action which other senates was not willing to do.  It doesn't matter what you intended, the message that was sent was clear that European angry letters won't fly anymore

I hope you're not European in a derogatory sense. We have a part to play in this game too you know Smiley

What your quote is messed up.  It would be a travesty in my mind because you harbor this incredible disdain for myself and for my party that I simply do not understand.  For someone who claims to be so in tune with conservatism, you want to bash me at any chance you get and honestly this is a game and not playing the right way has its consequences.

I hate your party so much I voted for it in the last Presidential election...

All that means is you hate the JCP more, which would, for once, actually make sense.  However, you did endorse the more moderate JCPer Fritz over myself.  A bad decision on your part

Yes, Fritz is indeed more moderate than you which is why I endorsed him. Besides what good would it do the Senate to have a then recently inactive poster who was removed from his seat try to get back in again at the earliest possible opportunity? The fact you lost has allowed you to actually get back into the game.

Yea, yea, we know you are such an economic conservative, but yet you refused to endorse me.  That's alright we'll see what happens in August

Considering you voted for an income tax rise I will take no lectures from you on economic conservatism Wink You also said nothing about the economy or taxation on your campaign thread.

And you've failed to back me in any race I've recently run and infact have gone out the way to oppose me. Remember all those times you endorsed JCP liberals over me? Did economic conservatism matter to you then? You did nothing to earn my vote.

Like I said, I will do my best to pull the other 2 DA candidates over the finish line instead of you even if it includes hurting one of the RPP members.

Which confirms that is it completely personal if your prepared to sacrifice your own side for the sake of feeling good about yourself.

No, I'm prepared to sacrifice something to prove that principles still matter in this game.  You cannot continually bad mouth myself and my party and inhibit progress and think that you will be rewarded for it.

What does that even mean? Badmouthing the RPP - I had issues with it's leadership and it's secrecy early on. I've been in the Senate for three months and endorsed your guy for President and worked with your guys in the Senate to pass legislation. Inhibit progress? Who's progress or what progress am I inhibiting?

There no more of a joke than Afleitch being a conservative or friend of the RPP

Funny that; with me being a former Conservative Party candidate in the UK and all Grin

SPC, I see that you just updated, but round 2 is all wrong.  And could you please do round 3?  Smiley  I think its a bit closer between Franzl and yourself for the fifth spot than you are realizing.

We do have a curious system where second preferences and third preferences can be worth the same 'weight' as a first preference. As someone who has ran in a real preference based election I've always found that quite bizarre Tongue

[ 1 ] Write-in: AHDuke99
[ 2 ] SPC
[ 3 ] Franzl
[ 4 ] RowanBrandon

Apparently Gustaf is deleting all my posts because I don't worship the ground Al walks on, so I thought I better try to post my ballot in a lot of places

You know that's not the reason. You're lucky what's in the Mods board stays in the Mods board.
