Glasgow, Scotland From the Evening Times:
Muslim chiraties have tried to stop an Italian restaurant serving drink on a terrace, claiming it is offensive to Glasgow's Asian community. Javeed Gill, secretary of the UK Isamic mission said: 'We look after 1500 young people and provide activities for them....selling alcohol on the footpath is a temptation to our young people.'
Point one: If it's a temptation a devout Muslim wouldn't succumb to it.
Point two: Kelvinbridge and the West End is Glasgows thriving 'Bohemian' are and a great place for a bite to eat. If people want to have wine with their meal outside then that's their business
Point three: If it concerns you so much, then why do Muslim shop owners sell alcohol. And if it is offensive to Asians then why do they often provide wine and alcohol with a meal at a curry house?
Point four: Don't be such killjoys!
Luckily as Glasgow City Council are trying to promote a 'bistro' atmosphere in the city it is likely the objections will be thrown out.
