I never really learned my dad's politics - he died right before I turned 10. That said I would guess somewhere in the range of liberal to libertarian, as I do know he smoked pot on occassion.
My mom is very libertarian on social issues, but a bit of a lefty on economics. However she's a bit emotional about it sometimes.
Either would be a fine choice, but I guess I'd gamble on my dad as he'd probably be more level-headed overall.
