I was referring to Cincinnatus's amendment, which I oppose on the grounds that it is simply obstructionism against more prolific and active representatives.  There already are two legislative slots under this, you know.

Yes, but one is reserved for The People.  Under this, I could just introduce twenty bills and have free reign.  This is just as bad as having the Speaker pick and choose.

Requesting and granting a 48 hour extension.

I won't vote for any final bill that allows any Representative the ability to indefinitely monopolize the Assembly's time.

Requesting and granting a 48 hour extension.

The Speaker does not have the authority to extend the voting period.

I assure you, I most certainly do.  This is nothing new, we've followed this practice for a while now.

The irony in this post is palpable.

(Oh, and there's yet another flaw in this legislation if there's no limit to how long the speaker can make a voting period).

Perhaps.  You see though, I'm more concerned about certain Representatives introducing twenty-thirty bills so that a tax proposal, for example, won't reach the floor.  Not that any of us would do that..

I was completely willing to work on a compromise, but it seems you're incapable of such, or, you at least don't desire to do so.  This amendment isn't intended to prevent more active Rep's from being heard at all.  I just don't fell that you, or anyone else, including myself, should have a laundry list of legislation all considered before another Rep can be heard.

On the first amendment the Ayes are 4, Nays are 0.  The amendment passes.  On the second amendment the Ayes are 0, Nays are 0.  The amendment fails.  The Assembly will now proceed to a final vote.  This vote will last 24 hours, or until all members have voted.
