Somehow, I don't think that a former Suharto supporter, who abandoned him only when he was on the verge of losing power and who served in East Timor, even if he hasn't been accused of war crimes, is a good choice for Indonesian leader

I thought you wanted to view leaders relative to their country? Don't you think Yodhoyono is good for Indonesia and a better leader than most alternatives there?

But I guess he's better than Harper...

No, I don't think so. Continuating the millitary tradition of interfering in politics is certainly not good for Indonesia.
And I didn't vote for Harper.

He has worked for moving the military out of politics.
